Program Note:

'Dissemble' takes inspiration from a ‘newspaper blackout poem’ from Austin Kleon’s ‘Horoscope series’ of poems. These poems are created by blacking out selected words from newspaper articles to reveal a poem. The musical motifs in this piece are revealed gradually, through playful interaction between the two musicians. The title Dissemble, meaning to conceal or disguise one’s true feelings, refers to the notion of writing a carefree, spirited piece during a time of global uncertainty.
